Chinese Ambassador to Naoero Lyu Jin Meets with Minister for Naoero Utilities Corporation Shadlog Bernicke

On August 4, Chinese Ambassador to Naoero Lyu Jin met with Minister for Naoero Utilities Corporation Shadlog Bernicke for an exchange of views on China–Naoero energy cooperation. Minister-Counsellor Wang Xuguang of the Chinese Embassy, Deputy Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ranin Akua, and Chief Executive Officer of the Naoero Utilities Corporation Anthony Dimapilis also attended the meeting.

Ambassador Lyu Jin noted that, despite numerous challenges, the solar power project in Naoero, constructed by a Chinese company, has been completed and put into operation. Minister Bernicke thanked the Chinese Government and the Chinese company for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the completion and operation of the project. He stressed that, against the backdrop of rising international oil prices and frequent breakdowns of Naoero’s diesel generators, the project has played an irreplaceable role in safeguarding the country’s basic electricity supply.
