Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Yang Yundong Pays a Courtesy Call on Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Theodora Constantinidou

On August 6, 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong paid a courtesy call on Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Theodora Constantinidou.

Ambassador Yang noted that China and Cyprus enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship and solid political mutual trust. The two sides have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, and continued to deepen all-round cooperation. As this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the fifth anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries, the Chinese side is ready to work with the Cypriot side to increase exchanges at various levels, expand economic cooperation, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to further upgrade bilateral relations.

Permanent Secretary Constantinidou congratulated Ambassador Yang on assuming his new post. She pointed out that the Cypriot side cherishes its relations with China and is firmly committed to the one-China policy. She thanked China for its strong support on the Cyprus problem, and expressed willingness to join hands with the Chinese side to bring Cyprus-China relations to a new high.
