Chinese Consul General in Cape Town Ren Faqiang Attends Launch Ceremony of CI-UCT China-South Africa People-to-People Exchange Month

On September 4, 2026, Ren Faqiang, Chinese Consul General in Cape Town, attended the launch ceremony of the “China-South Africa People-to-People Exchange Month” held by the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Town and delivered a speech, and jointly unveiled the "CEPMG Shelf" at CI-UCT together with Ma Jiabin, Editor in Chief of People’s Education Press.

Consul General Ren stated that People-to-people exchanges bond the peoples of China and South Africa, and mutual learning between civilizations serves as a powerful driving force for bilateral cooperation. The Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town will, as always, support China-South Africa people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as educational cooperation, support the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Town, and create more favorable conditions for Chinese language teaching, youth exchanges and cultural cooperation.

South African educators and University of Cape Town students majoring in Chinese, who recently concluded a study visit to China, shared their experiences and reflections on Chinese language acquisition.
