Chinese Consulate General in Cebu Hosts National Day Reception

On September 11, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Cebu held a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and to bid farewell to Consul General Zhang Zhen.

Around 300 guests attended the reception, including Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Cebu governor, mayors, members of the House of Representatives, provincial board members and city councilors, members of the Consular Corps, representatives of the local Chinese enterprises and Filipino-Chinese communities.

In her remarks, Zhang briefed China’s latest development and its contributions to the world. Under the guidance of the four Global Initiatives and its good-neighborly policies, China has delivered tangible outcomes for both the region and the world at large, she noted.

Reflecting on her time in Cebu, Zhang recalled some examples and fruits in promoting people-to-people ties and cultural exchanges as well as sub-national cooperation in relevant sectors. She expressed gratitude to the local governments and friends from all walks of life for their support, and looked forward to continued joint efforts to advance the Chinese-Filipino friendship and to bring bilateral relations back to the right track. A sound and steady bilateral relationship serves the fundamental interests of both nations and peoples, she stressed.

Guest speakers extended National Day congratulations and warm farewell wishes. They highlighted friendship and sub-national ties with China, and spoke highly of Zhang’s efforts in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between the two peoples.
